Their Story: "We first met while teaching at a middle school. Steve took a spoonful of my lemon ice at an end-of-the-year luncheon and the rest is history. Our dream is to get married in Colorado because that is where we took our first vacation. On this trip, we visited Rocky Mountain National Park and fell in love with the mountains. We love to go on adventures and be outside in nature. We got engaged in May 2021 at the same place we took our first hike, five years earlier. Just this past summer, we crossed a major item off our bucket list and completed a cross-country trip with our camper. We are ready to set down some roots and just bought a house together! We both never saw a traditional wedding in our future and the idea of a Colorado elopement is so appealing to us because we really feel that it is important for the moment to be about our love for each other. What better way to express our love for each other than in one of the places that helped us fall in love. We will celebrate with our loved ones when we return home!” Planning Details: We couldn’t agree more that a Colorado mountain backdrop is a dreamy setting for a Colorado elopement. We are so glad to have connected with Meagan and Steve, who traveled from New York, for their Colorado elopement. We first started working with through our Ceremony Site Report which is a great place to get started as it is a written consultation in which we not only provide great affordable elopement site that fit with couples needs, budget, and priorities….. but, we also give planning advice to make it all flow well. They identified their top priorities as having a scenic mountain views, preferably with a lake, for the ceremony, a privage room in a restaurant, and a logistically easy destination. Check, check and check! ⬇️ 🎉 Of course, I’m biased, but I think our Colorado elopement packages in the mountains are picturesque (honestly, we specialize in finding small wedding sites with a view)! Though they started out their planning thinking they would have 16 guests, they switched directions and decided to truly elope - just the two of them and the mountains! They decided to exchange vows at one of my favorite secret spots on Loveland Pass - an easy destination to get to if you are flying in to Denver International. Meagan and Steve's Colorado elopement day was everything they had hoped it would be - intimate, romantic, and filled with love. The couple had always dreamt of getting married in Colorado, the place where they met and fell in love. Meagan and Steve's elopement day began with hair and makeup by Alpine Spa & Salon at their VRBO in Dillon. By the time Wendee (planner & coordinator) and Andrea (photographer) arrived, the bride's room was picked-up, with all the necessary items set-out, including shoes, jewelry, and the wedding dress. The groom met with the photographer and Wendee's 11-year-old assistant outside the VRBO and pinned on his boutonniere. Then the couple had their private "first look" with just the two of them and the photographer. The moment was filled with excitement, joy, and love. The couple then left for Loveland Pass. We like to suggest that no matter the season, even in the middle of summer, bringing warm jackets, blankets, and shawls as the location is at high altitude and could be quite windy. The couple brought chilled individual bubbly to celebrate after the ceremony (Wendee brings everything else like service supplies, a small table, champagne glasses, etc.). The elopement ceremony started with Wendee playing bride's entrance song on a small Bluetooth speaker, “Canon in D Major," followed by the wedding celebration song, “This Will Be (An Everlasting Love). After the ceremony, the couple signed the marriage license, and the photographer took more photos around the lake area. They then cut and served the cake, enjoying a personalized cake topper they brought with them. Cake flavor: Ambassador, a white cake with Grand Marnier flavor, raspberry buttercream, and was finished with Grand Marnier buttercream. To celebrate, they popped some bubbly, and the celebrations continued. The day ended with the couple going to the charming Ski Tip Lodge in Keystone for a celebration dinner. The location was perfect, and the dinner was intimate and romantic, exactly what they had envisioned. Meagan and Steve's Colorado elopement day was perfect, filled with love, joy, and laughter. It was a day that celebrated their love story, who they are, and what they mean to each other. The day was a testament to how a little creativity, planning, and the right people can come together to create the most magical moments. For other brides looking for inspiration on how to make their elopement day special, Meagan and Steve's love story is one to remember. Behind the ScenesEver wonder what goes on behind-the-scenes of a micro-wedding day? Jaime L. Barba, one of our talented professional photographers, captured me at work from one of our May 2023 weddings in Boulder, Colorado. Enjoy! .... and yes, she does wedding-day content creation (a great alternative if you cannot afford videography) for couples as well as photography.
Content CreationWhat is a wedding day content creator? It’s someone who is there on your wedding day taking pictures on a cell phone (or in Jaime's case, her professional equipement), documenting behind-the-scenes moments, capturing and telling stories, and delivering short-form media content of your wedding day in real-time. Checkout one from our September 2023 weddings ⬇️.
