Their Story:  “We met the first week of college 11 years ago when he sat next to “the cute girl” in our class and started a conversation. We became friends right away ,but actually didn’t start dating until 4 years ago. We decided to have a small, intimate wedding in Colorado because we love the natural beauty of the area and did not want to stress out about planning a big wedding. We just want to celebrate our love for each other.”

Wedding Details:   We started working with Courtney and Brian early on in their planing through our ceremony site report services, which is like a written consultation with detailed information about site options that will work with their vision, budget, needs and priorities. 

A high priority for them was to have an outdoor scenic ceremony with mountain views & water, near a vacation house for a post-wedding celebration, having seating at the ceremony, and two bouquets for her MOHs.  ✅  They decided to have their ceremony at Sapphire Point Overlook and found a great vacation that allows small gatherings.  We started our service with a few getting ready moments, a first-look, and then caravanned to the ceremony site.  Post ceremony, we did some group photos and sent the guests back to the vacation house where a personal chef was awaiting to serve up drinks and hors d’oeuvres while we finished photos with just the couple.  When Courtney and Brian returned, we did a little cake cutting and some toasting.  They opted not to do any dancing, but it could certainly be included.  If you want to visually see more on how a small wedding day flows with our Colorado Wedding Packages, be sure to watch my YouTube video!

Tips and Ideas:  There are so many things that Courtney and Brian did “right” with their wedding planning to make everything go smoothy.  No matter where you are at with your planning, just getting started, in the middle or are putting together final details, here are some some ways to keep it simple, yet gorgeous so that your micro-wedding feels significant: 

• Get connected with a planner early on.  They can help guide you through the process, give you resources, provide recommendations, create documents to keep you focused, etc.   Connect with Wendee.  
• Choose great florals for a natural backdrop:  Courtney and Brian got married outdoors and her bridesmaids wore a neutral color.  Thus, add a little color (don’t be afraid) to incorporate a a “pop” and style in your wedding.  Yes - neutrals are beautiful on Instagram, but in real-life, it can look bland, blah with no contrast in the natural environments. 
• Keep your wedding party small.  Yes - it I totally normal to have a couple of bridesmaids & groomsmen. 
• Design the entrances & exits to be simple:  have the men at the ceremony spot with the officiant.  Parents are already seated.  No ushers needed and guests will enjoy the site BEFORE the wedding.  Then, all you have are the brides-people entrances. 
• Rent a nice vacation house.  They did not have any additional decorations.  Just the bouquets, cake, a personal chef and a great vacation house.  This may be cost-prohibitive for some couples.  But, if you reserve a private room at a restaurant or section of the restaurant, you still won’t need much decor (if any at all).
