Their Story: “We both work in healthcare. We met in 8th grade at a middle school dance, and were high school sweethearts. We are thinking a small, destination wedding in Colorado because we are both more private people and just want to be surrounded by family that means the most to us. We also went to Colorado about 3 years ago and fell in love with it.” Planning Details: How often do we work with high school sweethearts? Well…. More than you know (this was our 2nd of the season, and only July)! We couldn’t agree more that a small micro-wedding is perfect for couples that are more private, yet they can also feel like incredibly intimate weddings with your closest love ones witnessing. I was so glad to have connected with Sydney and Trevon about 11-months prior to their wedding. But not worries if you don’t have that kind of long planning runway as we’ve planned elopements in as little as 5 days! We first started working with through our Ceremony Site Report which is a great place to get started as it is a written consultation in which we not only provide great affordable ceremony site that fit with couples needs, budget, and priorities….. but, we also give planning guidance to make it all flow well. Sydney and Trevon identified their top priorities as having scenic mountain views, great photography, a hair & makeup stylist and a nice dinner ….. all reasonably priced. Check, check and check! ⬇️ 🎉 Of course, I’m biased, but I think our Colorado small wedding packages in the mountains are picturesque (honestly, we specialize in finding small wedding sites with a view)! Wedding Details. Sydney and Trevon initially chose Blue Lake south of Breckenridge for their “rogue” ceremony site. But, with only 5 days in advance of their wedding, we received notification from the US Forest Service, who manages the lands around Blue Lake, that they would not be allowing weddings or elopements at that spot any longer. Not wanting to alarm the coupe right away, I happened to be in Summit County coordinating a different wedding and needed to check it out for myself. Though the area was still accessible, they NFS had closed down a LARGE upper parking lot with only a little one to spare. Since it is a highly trafficked area, I knew that we were posting a couple of challenges and didn’t want to risk any hiccups on the wedding day. It was time to tell the clients we needed to shift ceremony spots. Four days before their wedding, we hopped on a Zoom call and I showed them photos of the backup venue and explained how their logistics would change due to a little longer drive time to get to the ceremony spot. Ironically, driving up to Summit County, they had passed this site and remarked about how it would be great to get married there as well! Thus, the changes were made, phone-tree texts were sent to their 20 guests, and we were ready! Wedding day: As with every wedding day, we packed up the car with our supplies: cake stands, garden wagon, Bluetooth speaker, shawls/furs, umbrellas, and a little supplies kit - we bring all the necessities to make your wedding day run smoothly. Due to the change in timing with this new venue, Loveland Pass, we decided to cut the cake and do some pre-wedding cheers, ending our services at the micro-wedding venue, instead of heading back to the restaurant to do this. Eat dessert first - why not? Its super fun and you get to extend the time spend at these amazingly scenic mountain sites. Thus, we also packed up a little table and cutting supplies. After I picked up the cake and florals, we made the beautiful drive up to Summit County and met Sydney in her hotel room, along with our photographer Andrea Flanagan, with mom and sister as they were finishing up hair & makeup services with Breckenridge Hair Company. We allow ourselves about 15 minutes before starting our photography & coordination service to meet everyone and get a layout of the lodging property. TIP: it helps to have your getting ready room all picked up, hang your dress, set out your accessories and have anyone else in your getting ready room all dressed by the time we arrive. This ensures that the wedding prep and departures will run peacefully and on-time. Because their property wasn’t the most photogenic for the first-look they had planned, we decided to do their first look on the drive to the ceremony site. So, after we did a few details shots and dressing of the bride photos (no, nothing indecent) which are very sentimental to mom/sisters/best-friends, we connected with the groom and his parents to do a few pinning-of-the boutonniere photos. Then, all the carpooling guests jumped in their vehicles, lined-up for the convoy with Sydney and her family in the back, and we all caravanned out to a first-look location which wad en-route to the wedding venue. At Lake Dillon, the convoy parked, everyone stayed in their vehicles while we arranged a private first-look with Sydney and Trevon - WOW! It only look 10 minutes…. But WOW - what amazing photos! When we made it to the jaw-dropping mountain top ceremony venue (yes, Loveland Pass is my FAVORITE!), we walked about 5 to 7 minutes to “the” ceremony spot. Sydney and her dad waited for our cue as we setup music to create a momentous atmosphere. After the ceremony, we flowed right into group photos - and yes, we play upbeat music in the background and you might see me break a move when Earth Wind and Fire comes on! After the group photos, Andrea stole the couple away for private photos while I setup cake and bubbly service - we bring everything needed except for the bubbles. Yes, we gotta abide by Colorado liquor laws…. We can’t purchase or serve alcohol, but that doesn’t mean you can’t BYO!. The celebrations continued for their family at the top of the mountain, diving into two flavors of gourmet French-pastry styled cake: chocolate mocha and mocha buttercream. MMMM chocolate. But, our baker has over 20 flavors to choose some, so if you like the fruity flavors, I recommend Peach Melba which features a layer of raspberry preserves. Content CreationWhat is a wedding day content creator? It’s someone who is there on your wedding day taking pictures on a cell phone (or in Jaime's case, her professional equipement), documenting behind-the-scenes moments, capturing and telling stories, and delivering short-form media content of your wedding day in real-time.
