Their Story: “Tim and I met while working at a pizza restaurant. Since then, we bought a house, and adopted two German Shepherd dogs. Tim and I love adventure, taking trips, and trying new things. Our families are very tight-knit and we value our close relationships with them. We are looking for a small and intimate wedding day that celebrates our marriage with our closest friends & family without worrying about "hosting" or "entertaining". We truly want this day to be about us.” Planning Kick-off. We had the pleasure of connecting with Megan and Tim 14 months ahead of their magical day. From the outset, our collaboration was seamless, starting with our Ceremony Site Report—a comprehensive consultancy tool that not only identifies affordable, breathtaking ceremony sites aligned with your needs, budget, and priorities but also offers expert planning advice to ensure a smooth, enjoyable experience. Megan and Tim envisioned a picturesque backdrop for their vows—a scenic mountain vista embracing the serenity of water, whether a lake or a river, complemented by stunning photography, all the while ensuring accessibility for their cherished elder guests. We were thrilled to meet every one of these critical elements with enthusiasm and dedication. Micro-Wedding Day. Megan and Tim's wedding day was a testament to the beauty of simplicity and the intimate warmth that a small gathering can bring. Their micro-wedding, located at the breathtaking Blue Lakes south of Breckenridge, Colorado, was a celebration not only of their love but also of the pure joy in sharing this momentous occasion with their closest family and friends. [NOTE: as of 7.7.23, they are no longer allowing weddings at Blue Lakes. But, there are many other similar spots around Colorado. Please connect with us through the Cermeony Site Report to find out more informaiton.] The day unfolded following a meticulously planned timeline (one of Wendee's specialies) catering to the couple’s desires for a stress-free and memorable experience. Thanks to Custom Weddings of Colorado’s intimate wedding package, Megan and Tim could savor each moment, knowing that quality vendors were taking care of every detail. Seamless flow to micro-wedding days. The day began with Megan’s pampering session at the Breckenridge Hair Company, ensuring her hair and makeup were flawless,. At the photographer and coordinators arrival, we suggest that everything is laid out perfectly - from shoes and jewelry to stunning gown with its intricate buttons up the back, for which a crochet hook was thoughtfully brought along for ease. After special moments of the bride dressing, Tim and his mother met the photographer outside their VRBO, ready to capture the groom's preparation moments and the delicate pinning of the boutonnière. The couple shared their first look - an intimately private moment, with just them and their photographer present - before taking a few pre-wedding family photos. The anticipation built as they prepared to depart for Blue Lake at with a reminder to bring the warm jacket, blanket, shawl, rings, and license, knowing the site could be windy. Arriving at Blue Lake's Lower Lake area, Megan and Tim were greeted by the serene beauty of their chosen venue. The ceremony was casual yet profoundly moving, taking place near the shore with the groom standing alongside the officiant. Megan made her breathtaking entrance to the tune of “You Are The Reason” by Brooklyn Duo, escorted by her father, James - a moment that epitomized the event's romantic and family-oriented vibe. Post-ceremony, as the song “Glamorous” by Fergie played, the celebrations began. The signing of the marriage license and photo session around the picturesque Blue Lake area provided perfect opportunities to capture memories that would last a lifetime. Guests then departed back to Breckenridge, while the couple stayed behind for additional photos, reveling in their newlywed bliss. The first guests arrived at Ember Restaurant, eagerly awaiting the arrival of the bride and groom, who were greeted with toasts, a few short speeches, and the cutting of the cake, symbolizing the start of their reception. The cake, true to the day's elegance, featured an asymmetrical horizontal texture with a “Just Married” topping. The exquisite flavors of Raspberry Duchess and Cappuccino Mousse catered to the guests' sweet cravings, marking the culmination of the culinary delights. Echoing Megan and Tim’s love for romantic, laid-back, and natural aesthetics, the floral arrangements boasted all white with a bounty of greenery, including their adoration for peonies and gracefully incorporating roses. The boutonniere and cake flowers matched this theme, cementing the style that was both minimalistic and full of life. Megan and Tim’s wedding is a beacon for engaged couples considering a micro-wedding. It underscores the beauty of focusing on what truly matters - the love shared between two people and the close-knit bond with those they hold dear. It’s someone who is there on your wedding day taking pictures on a cell phone (or in Jaime's case, her professional equipement), documenting behind-the-scenes moments, capturing and telling stories, and delivering short-form media content of your wedding day in real-time.
