Thier Story: “Zach and I met in 2014 on our college campus. We would like to have a small wedding/ elopement because we want the time to be about connecting with our family and close friends and enjoying our time together. The idea of a large wedding feels too impersonal and stressful. We decided on Colorado because it is close to both of our families. We also greatly value spending time outdoors and feel that we are most ourselves when hiking and exploring.” Planning Details: Experience the Charm of Intimate Colorado Elopements with Custom Weddings Nearly a year before they walked down the aisle amidst the breathtaking Colorado landscape, Carlie and Zach embarked on that very path with us. It all began with our comprehensive Ceremony Site Report—an invaluable tool, offering not just a selection of affordable venues with majestic mountain backdrops and rippling waters but also meticulous guidance to weave your day together seamlessly. For Carlie and Zach, their hearts were set on scenic mountain vistas, amazing photography, the inclusion of their cherished officiant (a family friend), and to bring their furry companion. With our tailored Colorado elopement packages, these aren't just mere boxes to be ticked; they're the foundation upon which we craft your perfect day. 🏞️🐾📷 Our elopement-styled wedding package paints a picture so vivid and enchanting it could only belong to the Colorado mountains. We pride ourselves on sourcing idyllic venues that provide not just a view but an experience. For Carlie and Zach, that venue was Blue Lake which is south of Breckenridge. Its not for everyone, but with their 13 healthy and mobile guests that have an adventruous experience, it was the perfect fit! And the beauty isn't merely in the setting, but in the simplicity and precision of the planning. Whether it's ensuring the timely arrival of your cake and flowers, orchestrating your ceremony music with a Bluetooth speaker, or providing a coordinator who's by your side ensuring every behind-the-scenes detail is flawless—your day is poised to unfold effortlessly. UPDATE: as of July 2023, the owners of the land, a Colorado Utility company, has posted they are not allowing but also not enforcing their no-weddings regulations. The National Forest Service has also closed off a parking lot and are issuing tickets for parking on the road. Thus, we cannot confidently recommend this site any longer to couples, of any size group (even elopements of 2). But, there are many other amazing sites across Colorado that offer as equally amazing (and in our opinion, even better) views and experiences. About Blue Lake South of Breckenridge. Blue Lake, which is about a 25-minute drive south of Breckenridge, offers peaceful mountain views, breathtaking alpine scenery, and the type of scenery that ensures your day is focused solely on the love shared between you and your partner. Before you exchange vows amidst the wildflowers and crisp mountain air, securing a permit is crucial. As an act of preservation and respect for the environment, Blue Lake requires permits for elopements. For detailed information on acquiring a permit, visit Custom Weddings of Colorado, which can guide you through the process. Timing is everything when it comes to a memorable elopement at Blue Lake. Early June through early fall offers the most idyllic and accessbile setting (since to get there is on an unmaintained bumpy rocky road - high clearance vehicle needed), with wildflowers in full bloom and the lake reflecting the azure skies. Although Blue Lake's allure is year-round, consider the seasonal changes in climate and landscape to select a date that aligns with your elopement vision. With Breckenridge a 25-minute drive away, finding a charming cabin or a luxury resort to extend your elopement into a romantic retreat is effortless. The town offers a large variety of accommodations: from glamping to luxury vacaiton homes, from RV resorts to bed and breakfasts. After the vows, celebrate with an intimate dinner at one of Breckenridge's fine dining establishments. From alpine-inspired eateries to cozy bistros, from distilleries to breweries, the local cuisine complements your elopement with a taste of Colorado hospitality. Carlie + Zach's Colorado Elopement Day. Nestled amidst the rugged majesty of the Colorado Rockies, a day of intimate celebration unfolds. The serene quietude of the Airbnb the couple rented for everyone in their group played host to moments of tender preparation. The bride's mother, hands both steady and loving, worked artistry on hair and makeup, infusing each brushstroke with maternal affection. Through the soft, golden morning glow, our photographer weaved silently, capturing candid moments of sentiment: a dress waiting, shoes paired with hope, and the glimmer of ornaments yet to gleam in the sun. The groom stood dignified, awaiting his cue amidst the alpine whispers, where his mother discreetly fixed the boutonniere. Then came the first look, private with tear-brimmed eyes met with electric jubilance, only to welcome family into this circle of awe moments later. Then, the group carpooled and caravaned towards Blue Lake Breckenridge. At the ceremony spot, the couple made their entrance united together (and alternative to the bride being escorted by her father), along with their dog by their side. At the water's edge, where sky met mountain met lake, vows were exchanged as their close family friend guided them through the cermeony. The signing of the marriage license, witnessed by their four-legged companion, injected a playful quirk to their day. Then it was time: popping of some bubbly, cheers and snapshots of loved ones gathered to bear witness to their unity. And as the guests departed for the Hearthstone Restaurant, the couple lingered for portraits painted with the fading brush of daylight. At Custom Weddings of Colorado, our passion is to take the wonderful simplicity of a small wedding and elevate it with the nuances that make your day truly yours. With us, planning your Colorado elopement is not just easy; it's enjoyable. From the panoramic mountain views to the echo of joyous cheers by the riverside, we invite you to embark on this wonderful journey with us. Behind the ScenesEver wonder what goes on behind-the-scenes of a micro-wedding day? Jaime L. Barba, one of our talented professional photographers, captured me at work from one of our May 2023 weddings in Boulder, Colorado. Enjoy! .... and yes, she does wedding-day content creation (a great alternative if you cannot afford videography) for couples as well as photography.
Content CreationWhat is a wedding day content creator? It’s someone who is there on your wedding day taking pictures on a cell phone (or in Jaime's case, her professional equipement), documenting behind-the-scenes moments, capturing and telling stories, and delivering short-form media content of your wedding day in real-time.
