Their Story: Tyler and Sara met through a mutual friend and became friends themselves. That friendship then led to a deeper connection and relationship. Tyler and Sara live in Iowa, with their 3 daughters. "We decided to get away from our busy lives and celebrate our 2nd anniversary in Colorado back in June of 2021, which was both of our first times in the state. We drove through Grand Lake on our way to Rocky Mountain National Park, and loved the beautiful and serene setting, and said someday we would be back. When we got engaged and started wedding planning, we discussed how we both wanted something small. So we decided that an intimate ceremony in Colorado with just our immediate family and the couple who we are best friends with would be perfect, and we knew that Grand Lake, Colorado was just the place!"
Micro-Wedding Plans: When Sara and Tyler reached out to us, they knew they wanted to marry in Grand, Lake Colorado. Yes, there are some wedding venues in Grand Lake, but they tend to cater to the larger group. But, we know of a few secret spots to hold a small intimate micro-wedidng or eloopement. So, finding a Grand Lake micro-wedding venue was easy. After a few email, they settled on our 3-hour micro-wedding pacakge in Grand Lake. Then, the next step was to find lodging and a restaurant. The couple found an VRBO in Grandby that was large enough to house their entire guest list of 16 people.
The Micro-Wedding Day: Welcome to this cozy vacation house where the beautiful wedding day services began! We kicked off the day with the excitement of getting ready, followed by heartwarming first-looks with both dad and the groom. From there, we convoyed out to the picturesque Grand Lake, Colorado micro-wedding venue, surrounded by breathtaking lake and mountain views. After a small ceremony and some group photos, we captured some sweet moments with just the couple while the rest of the party enjoyed a delicious dinner at a local restaurant. We wrapped up our services after witnessing the happy couple cut-the-cake and share a toast. What a perfect day to celebrate love!
Micro-Wedding Ideas: What's not to love about micro-weddings? They're intimate, special and full of unique ideas like giving surprise gifts to your little ones on your special day. That's exactly what one couple did! After their first look, they presented their three sweet girls with a stunning piece of jewelry that they could wear to the ceremony. And that wasn't the only creative inclusion of their little ones--instead of the traditional unity candle or sand ceremony, they came up with a fun and colorful unity spin-art activity that involved the whole family. Who says micro-weddings can't be full of love, family, and unforgettable moments?

I've been planning weddings since 1995 when I moved to Colorado from Iowa. I cut my teeth at Keystone Resort in their wedding department, then then ventured on to planning corporate meetings. But, I kept helping friends and their friends with weddings starting my first full-service company in 2002 (yes - planned the big overwhelming ones). In 2012 with the birth of my son, values shifted and I decided to go small, intimate and meaningful. Please connect with me to make your dreamy, simple mountain wedding come true!
Behind the Scenes
Ever wonder what goes on behind-the-scenes of a micro-wedding day? Jaime L. Barba, one of our talented professional photographers, captured me at work from one of our May 2023 weddings in Boulder, Colorado. Enjoy! .... and yes, she does wedding-day content creation (a great alternative if you cannot afford videography) for couples as well as photography.
What is a wedding day content creator? It’s someone who is there on your wedding day taking pictures on a cell phone (or in Jaime's case, her professional equipement), documenting behind-the-scenes moments, capturing and telling stories, and delivering short-form media content of your wedding day in real-time.
