Planning a Stress-Free Mountain Wedding

Kelly and CJ reached out to us after learning about our Ceremony Site Report Service, a popular starting point for couples dreaming of a Colorado micro-wedding. Their story immediately stole our hearts—Kelly is a nurse manager, and CJ is a land surveyor who grew up exploring Colorado’s mountains.  After CJ moved to Wisconsin to care for his grandparents, fate introduced him to Kelly, and two years later, they were ready for their next adventure together.  Kelly shared, “Being from Colorado, CJ grew up in the mountains, and I’ve since fallen in love with them during our many trips to visit family. We love the outdoors and wanted to incorporate those special memories into our wedding. A small, intimate ceremony felt perfect for us—it allowed us to focus on what really matters with our closest loved ones.”

1. Breathtaking Mountain Views. The couple wanted a scenic, outdoor venue that reflected Colorado’s grandeur. Many of the sites we recommend are on public lands, and we selected a peaceful location at the Dillon Marina Pavilion nestled among incredible mountain views overlooking Dillon Reservoir. At the site, the couple could soak-in the fresh air and open space while celebrating outdoors. 
2. Trusted, Experienced Planning.  Kelly and CJ wanted to work with someone who truly understood the nuances of hosting small weddings. With over 20 years of event industry experience—and a particular passion for creating intimate celebrations—we were thrilled to help bring their vision to life.
   
3. Seamless Wedding Day Flow. A stress-free day was a top priority for the couple. With carefully coordinated timing and logistics, we ensured their wedding day unfolded smoothly. An on-site coordinator managed all deliveries, setup tasks, and other wedding-day essentials—from floral arrangements to music for the ceremony.
   
4. Comfortable Ceremony Seating. For their guests’ comfort, Kelly and CJ wanted seating at the ceremony site. We offered our own wooden benches that seat two people each, saving them the hassle of going through external rental companies.
5. An Effortless Dinner Celebration. After their ceremony, Kelly and CJ hosted a post-wedding dinner for their guests in a private dining area at Aurum Food & Wine in Breckenridge. We recommended this restaurant for its inviting atmosphere, stunning views, and the bonus of not needing to rent extra equipment or spend additional time decorating.

The Micro-Wedding Day Timing

Beyond curating stunning venues and managing logistics like permits and vendor coordination, we are here to make your big day run seamlessly. Morning

• 9:00 a.m. Kelly began her wedding morning with hair styling at her vacation rental while her sister-in-law handled makeup.
• 1:15 p.m. The bride got dressed with the help of her closest family members, making time for a sweet moment to capture photos of her gown and details.

First Look

• 1:45 p.m. Kelly and CJ chose to share a heartfelt first look before the ceremony, surrounded by the quiet serenity of the mountains.

Ceremony

• 3:30 p.m. The ceremony at the Dillon Marina Pavilion. Kelly entered to “He Sleeps” from Pretty Woman, escorted by her brother Kevin, who also officiated the ceremony. Their exit song? AC/DC’s “Thunderstruck,” a nod to CJ’s rock-and-roll spirit.

Photography

• Post-ceremony, the couple captured additional photos at scenic spots, including the shores of Lake Dillon while guests were transported to the restaurant for dinner.

Evening Celebration

• 5:15 p.m. The couple arrived at Aurum Food & Wine to cut their cake and mingle before dinner. Guests enjoyed a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere filled with laughter, love, and a few simple yet elegant floral arrangements. ​
