Their Story: “Nick and I met on an online dating app in October 2020. We are both originally from northeast Ohio, although neither of us were living there when we "swiped right" on each other. Nick was living in Carbondale, CO and I was in Columbus, OH working on a travel nurse assignment. It took a random weekend when we were both home visiting family and friends when our dating profiles matched. We developed a relationship over texting and FaceTime calls and after six weeks of talking, I flew out to Grand Junction, CO where Nick and I met for the first time. We immediately hit it off and 2.5 months later I moved to Colorado to be closer to him and focus on our relationship. We spent just under two years living in Colorado and exploring all it had to offer. We both love spending time outdoors from hiking to skiing/snowboarding to biking. Colorado was the perfect place for us! We have since moved back to Ohio to be closer to family and in November 2022, Nick popped the question! SO getting married where our relationship started would mean so much to us and sharing that with our closest family and friends for an intimate celebration would be our dream wedding.” Planning a Micro-Wedding in ColoradoWe connected with Katie and Nick just four months ahead of their mid-September micro-wedding in Colorado. They reached out to us, liked our packages, and began planning with our comprehensive ceremony site report. This document serves as an excellent starting point, providing affordable ceremony options tailored to couples' needs, budget, and priorities, along with planning guidance to ensure a smooth flow. With around 29 guests and a desire for scenic mountain views, excellent photography, an onsite coordinator, beautiful florals, and ample seating, we knew our Colorado Micro-Wedding package was ideal for them. Accessibility was also key, so we recommended a unique site operated by the town of Frisco, which, while rustic, allows for a micro-wedding ceremony venue with seating for less than $500. Despite being reservable and a very littled walk (yes - elders can access it), the nearby trails offered a chance to catch glimpses of mountain bikers passing by. A Micro-Wedding Day: Easy LogisticsKatie and Nick envisioned a stunning mountain backdrop to create lasting memories on their special day. We meticulously designed a plan to ensure everything flowed seamlessly while incorporating elements that enhanced the intimate feel of a small traditional wedding. To dress up the rustic venue, we added two larger floral arrangements and included a maid of honor and best man to stand with them. After the ceremony, they wanted to find a restaurant with a private room for their celebratory dinner, and we furnished the space with ten small floral arrangements.. To facilitate an easy-going wedding day, we streamlined the logistics. Our onsite coordinator (included in all our micro-wedding packages) met them at their hotel, delivering not only their bouquets but also corsages for moms and boutonnieres for dad. Before we caravaned to the ceremony spot for the couple’s first look, Katie shared a heartfelt moment with her dad at the hotel. There, they exchanged personal vows. Although we had planned group photos after the ceremony, light drizzle prompted us to send the guests ahead to the restaurant so we could capture some beautiful shots with the couple before the heavier rain arrived. Our onsite coordinator diligently monitored the radar, making real-time adjustments to our schedule. Consequently, we managed to take group shots in the restaurant's private room before dinner was served.. Planning Tip: When guests arrive (about 20 minutes before the couple), consider serving drinks and appetizers while the couple finishes their photos Favorite Micro-Wedding DetailsKatie and Nick infused their small wedding day with unique, personalized touches that left a lasting impression.

Behind the ScenesEver wonder what goes on behind-the-scenes of a micro-wedding day? Jaime L. Barba, one of our talented professional photographers, captured me at work from one of our May 2023 weddings in Boulder, Colorado. Enjoy! .... and yes, she does wedding-day content creation (a great alternative if you cannot afford videography) for couples as well as photography.
Content CreationWhat is a wedding day content creator? It’s someone who is there on your wedding day taking pictures on a cell phone (or in Jaime's case, her professional equipement), documenting behind-the-scenes moments, capturing and telling stories, and delivering short-form media content of your wedding day in real-time.
